South Carolina Health Information Exchange (SCHIEx)
The South Carolina Health Information Exchange (SCHIEx) is a system healthcare providers use to share Protected Health Information (PHI) with other providers for treatment and Public Health Agencies for Population Health, Biosurviellance and Quality Reporting Purposes.
Connecting to SCHIEx

- Register with SCHIEx online
- Review SCHIEx Policy / Legal Requirements
- Execute SCHIEx Participation Agreement
- Execute SCHIEx Business Associate Agreement
- Execute SCHIEx Early Adopter Agreement
- Complete IRS Form W-9
- Submit Employer Identification Number (EIN) form CP575 or 147C
- Provide proof of an active and valid bank account. Notarized letter signed and dated by an autorized representative of the financial institution.
- Mail completed form to SCHIEx

- Complete MSA Application
- Register with SCHIEx online and select EHN as your HIO
- EHN will consult with you at no charge and review your options and documentation.
- EHN will prepare ALL SCHIEx and MSO documentation on your behalf.
- EHN will forward necessary documents to SCHIEx for approval.
- EHN will contact and work directly with your EMR or HIS Vendor on your behalf.
- EHN will develop the interface to prepare for Step (2) Two.

Basic Content and Interface Validation
Validate your content and basic interface functionality using the following testing resources:
- Content Validation - NIST Testing Websites.
- Interface Functional Validation - Review SCHIEx Interoperability Guide pages 21-24
- PIX namespaceID
- RepositoryID
- Unique IDroot
- Submit/Edit SCHIEx Participant Technical Test Credentialing Application for EHR Participant will use.

Basic Content and Interface Validation
EHN will validate your content and basic functionality. We already have connected successfully to NIST and SCHIEx. EHN will provide the following;
- PIX namespaceID
- RepositoryID
- Unique IDroot
- EHN will submit SCHIEx Participant Technical Test Credentials on your behalf.
- You will successfully connect to SCHIEx through EHN.

Complete Verification and Validation
- Technical Connectivity for Test; URLs etc.
- Test Certificates
- PIX Domain namespaceID for your Organization
- Document Meta Data Specification

Complete Verification and Validation
- EHN will complete your Verification and Validate your connection to SCHIEx.
- You will successfully complete your verification and validation through EHN.

Complete the SCHIEx Subscription and Order Form
- Each SCHIEx membership application will be evaluated by the SCHIEx Coordinating Committee. The Committee meets every 3rd Thursday of the month. All documentation must be completed and received within ten (10) working days prior to the meeting.

Complete the SCHIEx Subscription and Order Form
- EHN will submit your SCHIEx membership application to the Coordinating Committee on your behalf.
- You will be able to exchange directly to other EHN members directly without the approval of SCHIEx.

Receive Your Production Technical Package
After you complete the verifiable and validation process and submit your signed legal agreements, you will be provided with a Production Technical Package.

- Production Certificates
- Your EMR/HIS Vendor will need to complete the interface to activate.

Receive Your Production Technical Package
Upon approval, verification and validation, EHN will receive your Production Technical Package. EHN will activate your account with SCHIEx. You will have direct access to SCHIEx.
